Probing into Atmospheres of Urban (Dis)comfort. EGSC, 2024

Please find below the call for papers for a thematic panel me and a few colleagues at ICS (Institute of Social Sciences - Lisbon) are organizing for this year’s European Geographies of Sexualities Conference, to be held in Brighton (UK) on the 2nd and 3rd of September, subordinated to the theme “Uncomfortable Spaces”.
Its title is Probing into atmospheres of urban (dis)comfort, and the deadline for individual paper submissions is on the 29th of March. You can find further details about the panel at the ebd of this e-mail.
We are particularly interested in the sometimes convergent, sometimes contradictory relations between colonialism and cisheterosexism as concomitant systems of oppression, as they give shape to urban space; in the atmospheric and affective operation of various forms of exclusionary violence in urban life, and in insurrectionary and oppositional modes of inhabiting, surviving, and critiquing that violence.
