VENTO SUL is a partnership between the Cera Project and the Espaço Espelho D’Água (EEA) in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal.
A programme under the artistic direction of Inês Valle and with public presentation at the emblematic Portuguese modernist building.
VENTO SUL departs from the historical, symbolic and conceptual notion of ‘wind’, and the impact of this climate depression in the field of artistic production.
In Portugal the winds from the north took them to the South, facilitating the contact with other people, places, stories and, totally altering the perception of the world.
Wind shifts around depressions and is not the same everywhere, it varies from place to place.
In Portugal the southern wind brings an intense climate change, causing a storm. Thus, in a beneficial analogy, VENTO SUL brings to Portugal the South, the non-hegemonic, aiming to contribute to the socio-cultural enrichment of the Portuguese artistic landscape, its relationships and collaboration with other narratives.
VENTO SUL includes a rich cultural programme which focuses on the same values of the CERA PROJECT by promoting art practices that fall outside Eurocentric & Western narratives, by encouraging interaction and dialogues.
